Publication Schedule and Journal History
1. Journal identity
The International Journal of Disaster Risk Management (IJDRM) is an international, double-blind peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the Scientific-Professional Society for Disaster Risk Management (SPS-DRM), Belgrade, Serbia.
· Print ISSN: 2620-2662
· Electronic ISSN: 2620-2786
· Journal abbreviation: Int. J. Disaster Risk Manag.
· Publication language: English
· Access model: immediate open access
· Current licence: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)
2. History
IJDRM was established in 2019 to provide an international platform for rigorous research and professional knowledge concerning disaster risk reduction, prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery, resilience and related hazards. The journal brings together scholarship from the social sciences, engineering, environmental sciences, public health, security studies, governance and emergency management.
The complete archive is publicly available from Volume 1 (2019) onward. Each annual volume preserves its original numbering, publication year and bibliographic record.
3. Current publication model
From 1 January 2026, IJDRM formally operates a semiannual schedule combined with continuous (rolling) publication. The journal publishes one annual volume divided into two issues:
· Issue 1: January–June
· Issue 2: July–December
Accepted articles are published individually as soon as they complete peer review, acceptance, copyediting, proofreading, author approval and final production. Authors do not have to wait for the formal closure of an issue.
4. Continuous pagination and citation
IJDRM uses continuous pagination within each annual volume. Each article receives a final consecutive page range following the article published immediately before it. The final citation includes the journal title, year, volume, issue, page range and DOI.
Once published, the article constitutes the Version of Record. Bibliographic metadata are not changed silently. Necessary post-publication amendments are made through a formal correction, expression of concern, retraction or other transparent notice under the journal’s post-publication policy.
5. Publication workflow
A manuscript proceeds through the following stages:
1. Submission and technical compliance screening.
2. Editorial scope and quality assessment.
3. Similarity and integrity screening.
4. Double-blind peer review by at least two independent experts.
5. Revision and editorial decision.
6. Copyediting, language and reference checks.
7. Layout, author proof and final quality control.
8. Online publication with final metadata and DOI.
6. Publication regularity and delays
The journal is committed to completing both issues within the calendar year. If an unforeseen technical, legal, ethical or operational matter affects the timetable, the journal will protect the accuracy and integrity of the record rather than publish incomplete or unreliable content. Any material change to the publication schedule will be announced publicly.
7. Long-term availability
All issues and articles are freely available on the journal website. DOI registration, national deposit, repository arrangements, website backups and the Archiving Policy support continued access and discoverability.
