Journal Statistics and Annual Transparency Reports

1. Purpose

The International Journal of Disaster Risk Management (IJDRM) publishes verified information about its publication output, international reach and editorial performance to support transparency and continuous improvement. Statistics are descriptive and do not influence editorial decisions.

Figures are derived from the journal management system, article archive and editorial records. Data are reviewed before publication and updated after the closure of each annual volume. Where a current year is shown, it is clearly identified as incomplete.

2. Publication output

The journal’s recent publication output is presented below. The current-year count will change as articles are added under the continuous publication model.

3. International reach

Volume 8, Issue 1 (2026) contains 26 peer-reviewed articles and includes authors representing 18 countries. IJDRM monitors the geographical distribution of authors, reviewers and editors in order to maintain an international perspective and avoid excessive dependence on a single institution, country or research network.

4. Editorial performance indicators

After each annual volume is closed, IJDRM will publish the following verified indicators:

·       manuscripts received;

·       desk rejections;

·       manuscripts sent for external peer review;

·       accepted and rejected manuscripts;

·       acceptance rate;

·       median time from submission to first editorial decision;

·       median time from submission to acceptance;

·       median time from acceptance to online publication;

·       number of reviewers who completed reviews;

·       geographical distribution of authors and reviewers; and

·       number of corrections, expressions of concern, retractions and article removals.

5. Definitions

Manuscripts received

Complete submissions formally entered into the editorial workflow during the reporting year. Incomplete test records and obvious duplicate system records are excluded.

Desk rejection

A submission declined before external peer review because it falls outside the Aims and Scope, fails minimum quality or reporting requirements, presents an ethical or originality concern, or does not meet essential submission requirements.

Acceptance rate

The number of manuscripts accepted divided by the number of manuscripts for which a final accept or reject decision was made during the reporting period. Withdrawn manuscripts and incomplete submissions are reported separately and are not treated as accepted papers.

First editorial decision

The first formal decision communicated to the author after initial assessment or peer review. Technical requests made before editorial assessment are not counted as decisions.

Publication time

The elapsed time from formal acceptance to online publication of the Version of Record.

6. Quality and integrity reporting

Annual reporting will also summarise material improvements to the editorial workflow, reviewer guidance, data and ethics requirements, metadata quality, digital preservation and post-publication record maintenance. Individual confidential cases will not be identified unless a public notice is necessary to protect the scholarly record.

7. Use and limitations of statistics

Editorial statistics vary by article type, subject, reviewer availability, revision complexity and ethical or methodological issues. They should not be interpreted as a promise concerning the processing time or outcome of an individual manuscript. IJDRM does not manipulate decisions, publication volume or citations to improve reported indicators.

8. Annual reports

Beginning with the 2026 reporting year, an annual transparency report will be published after the annual volume is closed and the underlying records have been verified. Earlier publication counts are provided from the public archive; additional historical workflow indicators will be added only when they can be verified reliably.

9. Corrections to statistics

If a material error is identified in a published statistic, IJDRM will correct the figure promptly and record the date and nature of the change. Questions about the methodology or published figures may be sent to office@ijdrm.com.
