Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

The International Journal of Disaster Risk Management (IJDRM) is dedicated to upholding the principles of academic integrity and ethical publishing. All participants in the editorial and publishing process—including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to act responsibly and transparently throughout the lifecycle of a manuscript.

1. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts must ensure that:

  • Their work is entirely original, and that all sources, data, and references are properly acknowledged.

  • The manuscript has not been submitted or published elsewhere.

  • Any potential conflicts of interest are disclosed in a clear and timely manner.

  • All named authors have contributed meaningfully to the creation of the manuscript and approved its final version.

  • The content does not include fabricated, falsified, or plagiarized material.

2. Role of the Editorial Team

The editorial board is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that each manuscript is evaluated based on academic merit, regardless of the authors’ background or affiliations.

  • Managing a double-blind peer review process that is fair, unbiased, and timely.

  • Taking appropriate action in response to ethical concerns, such as complaints, suspected misconduct, or appeals.

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of submissions and communication throughout the review process.

3. Obligations of Reviewers

Peer reviewers contribute to the quality and integrity of the journal by:

  • Providing constructive, evidence-based feedback to help authors improve their work.

  • Declining to review if there is a conflict of interest or if they feel unqualified to assess the content.

  • Treating all materials as confidential and not sharing them without permission.

  • Informing the editors of any signs of unethical behavior, such as plagiarism or data manipulation.

4. Publisher’s Role

The publisher, Scientific‑Professional Society for Disaster Risk Management, supports editorial independence and ethical practices by:

  • Providing the infrastructure for secure and reliable publication.

  • Assisting in the resolution of potential ethical disputes or allegations.

  • Promoting transparency and accountability across all aspects of journal operation.

5. Misconduct Policy

Any suspicion of misconduct—whether by authors, reviewers, or editors—will be handled through a clear and documented process, which may include investigation, correction, or retraction of the article in question. Readers or contributors can report concerns to the editorial board at: ijodrm@gmail.com.

6. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools

Authors must disclose any use of generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT or similar) in the preparation of their manuscript. These tools may be used to improve language or structure, but they must not be listed as authors and their use must be transparent in the acknowledgments or methods section.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and ethical integrity of the submitted content, regardless of AI involvement. Data analysis, interpretation, and critical thinking must be human-driven.

Reviewers and editors must not use AI tools to assess confidential content such as submitted manuscripts or peer reviews, unless explicitly permitted and with due regard to confidentiality.
