International Journal of Disaster Risk Management (IJDRM) is a double-blind peer-reviewed (twice a year), open-access, international journal, that serves all aspects of disaster studies, policy, and management. It provides a platform for academics, policymakers, and practitioners to publish high-quality research and practice concerning natural disasters and hazards (earthquakes, landslides, volcanic eruptions, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, tsunamis, cyclones, wildfires, pandemics, etc.), man-made (anthropogenic) disasters (civil disorder, terrorism, war, biological/chemical threat, cyber-attacks, hazardous materials, industrial accidents, technological failures, etc), complex political emergencies, and global crises.

Submission of the articles doesn't involve article processing charges (APCs) or submission charges.

The journal crosses and affects interdisciplinary boundaries to promote communication, collaboration, and teamwork between professions and disciplines to avoid (prevention) or to limit (mitigation and preparedness) the adverse impacts of hazards, within the broad context of sustainable development. The journal encourages the interchange of ideas and experiences, to decrease the risk of disasters and build community resilience within the context of sustainable development and planetary boundaries.

This is an open-access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.

Aims and Scope

The journal will cover all aspects of disaster risk management from a global perspective, including but not limited to:

• Disaster and crisis management theory and practice,
• Risk awareness and assessment,
• Hazard and vulnerability analysis,
• Knowledge development including education, training, research, and information on disasters,
• Public commitment and institutional frameworks, including organizational, policy, legislation, and community action,
• Disaster prevention, mitigation, response, recovery planning, policies,  and implementation,
• Promotes the interchange of ideas between practitioners, policy-makers, and academics.

 Submission Process

 Authors are kindly invited to submit their formatted full papers. All paper submissions will be blind peer-reviewed and evaluated based on originality, research content, correctness, relevance to the conference, and readability (reviewer form). Papers that are not adapted to the form will be rejected.

Manuscripts are accepted for review with the understanding that the same work has not been, will not be, nor is at present submitted elsewhere, and that its submission for publication has been approved by all of the authors and by the institution where the work was carried out; in addition that any person cited as a personal communication has approved such citation. Written authorization may be required at the editor's discretion.

Articles and any other material published in the International Journal of Disaster Risk Management represent the opinions of the author(s). They should not be construed to reflect the opinions of the editor(s) and the publisher. Authors submitting a manuscript do so with the understanding that if it is accepted for publication, copyright in the article, including the right to reproduce the article in all forms and media, shall be assigned exclusively to the publisher. The publisher will not refuse any reasonable request by the author for permission to reproduce any of his/her contributions to the International Journal Of Disaster Risk Management.

 Length of paper

There are no restrictions on paper length! We strongly encourage authors to present their experimental and theoretical findings with utmost thoroughness.

List of Symbols

 The manuscript should contain a list of all symbols used in the paper. They should be identified typographically for the printer, not mathematically. This list will not appear in print but is essential to avoid publication delay.

Footnotes

 Text footnotes should be avoided whenever possible. If they must be used, indicate them by superscript lowercase letters in the text.

Reviewers’ responsibilities

Peer review assists the Editor-in-Chief in making final editorial decisions and the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the different parts of the paper. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest. All papers in the International Journal of Disaster Risk Management are subjected to a rigorous double-blind peer-review procedure.

The first evaluation is based on an initial editor screening, followed by a more in-depth assessment by at least two anonymous reviewers. Peer review comments are confidential and will only be disclosed with the express agreement of the reviewer. Each paper is judged on the following criteria: a) the originality of its contribution to the field of disaster risk management; b) the topic's theoretical and methodological validity; c) the coherence of its research; d) the importance of advancing disaster studies. The selection of reviewers is at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief. The reviewers must be competent about the manuscript's subject matter; they must not be from the Authors' own institution, and they must not have recently co-published with any of the Authors. Reviews must be carried out objectively.

All the articles, reviews, and communications published go through the peer-review process and receive at least two reviews with the next decisions:

1. Accept in the current form

2. Accept the paper with the minor changes

The paper is in principle accepted after revision based on the reviewer’s comments. Authors are given five days for minor revisions.

3. Resubmit with the major changes

The manuscript's approval would be contingent on the changes. If part of the reviewer's criticisms cannot be altered, the author must offer a point-by-point answer or a rebuttal. Typically, only one round of substantial changes is permitted. The authors will be requested to resubmit the amended work within a reasonable period, and the updated version will be returned to the reviewer for additional feedback.

4. Decline the submission

The article contains severe faults and/or offers no unique meaningful contribution. There is no option of resubmission to the journal.

All reviewer criticisms should be addressed in a point-by-point manner. When the writers disagree with a reviewer, they must respond clearly.

References are to be listed in the order cited in the text in APA  (7th American Psychological Association) style.
